Beautiful, old Tibetan Buddhist Tortoise Mask. Ordained with hammered silver metal decorations.
Kapalas line the circumference with jewels for eyes. The shell has developed a wonderful patina over the years.
I have noticed that most of the ritual pieces for sale online are new copies of the originals so be careful if you want an authentic piece. I found this back in the 90s near the northern Burmese border and it was already very old though I don’t know the exact age. It traveled with me for over a month and has protected me ever since. Authentic Buddhist tradition is well represented in this piece. The shell and mask are in excellent condition making it a very collectable piece.
