This is not a mass produced puppet. I have been to the Thai village where it was made and was amazed to see how primitive, slow and tedious the work is.
The patience required to make the puppet is something few westerners possess. The bead work alone would baffle most western craftsmen. There are literally hundreds of pieces on each puppet !
The “shadowbox” frame is made specifically for this puppet. It is difficult to describe why some things look so much better than others.
This applies to art, buildings, food, etc.; with the shadow box, it is the perfect blend of proportion, colors, texture and composition. Actually, anything you put in this frame will look like a million bucks!
